We're Moving North: The Detailing Specialists Is Heading to Ohoka

After years based at Yaldhurst, we're packing up the workshop and moving north to Ohoka. Same team, same standards, same way of booking. New home, and a few extra benefits for you along the way.

The short story (the key bits)

Our new home: 4 Wilson Drive, Ohoka, North Canterbury.

When it happens:

  • Friday 7 August 2026 is our last day operating from 565 Yaldhurst Road.

  • Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 August, we're closed while we move and set up.

  • Wednesday 12 August 2026, we're open and fully operational at 4 Wilson Drive, Ohoka.

What stays the same:

What's new:

  • A dedicated home base in Ohoka for workshop bookings.

  • Complimentary pick-up and drop-off available on all ceramic coating bookings.

  • Uber pick-ups are available from Ohoka if you'd rather not wait around.

The long story (everything you need to know)

Why we're moving

My partner and I have bought a lifestyle block of bare land in Ohoka. It's where we'll build our future: our own home and, in years to come, our very own workshop for The Detailing Specialists (and our other businesses), purpose-built for the work we do.


Rather than wait for all of that to be built, we're moving to Ohoka now, just up the road from our block, so we can settle into North Canterbury and become part of the community while the bigger plan takes shape. It's the beginning of something we've worked toward for a long time, and honestly we're pretty excited about it.

None of this happens without you. Every booking, every referral, every car you've trusted us with over the years has helped make this possible. So before anything else: thank you. We're taking all of that with us to Ohoka, and we're not going anywhere. We're just up the road.

What's changing, and what isn't

Honestly, not much changes for you, and a couple of things get better.

You still book the same way, at book.detailing.co.nz. Or if you'd rather talk to someone, call or text me on 021 926 299, ring the workshop on 03 925 7874, or email hello@detailing.co.nz. Same team, same quality of work you're used to. And we're still a fully mobile detailing service across Canterbury, so if you're in town and it's easier for us to come to you, that option hasn't gone anywhere.

What's new is that our workshop bookings now take place at a new location in Ohoka, with a couple of extras to make the trip north easier (more on those below).

How to reach us in Ohoka

Ohoka sits just north of Christchurch, an easy run up the Northern Motorway for most of the city. Here are some approximate drive times to our new place (off-peak, give or take a few minutes depending on traffic):

For a lot of our customers, it's a shorter, straighter trip than you'd expect, and the motorway does most of the work.

Making the trip easy

We know moving a little further out is a change, so we've added a couple of things to take the hassle out of it - and a few reminders of what we already offer:

  • Complimentary pick-up and drop-off on all ceramic coating bookings. Ceramic coatings mean your car is with us for a bit, so with every ceramic booking, we'll offer to take care of getting your vehicle to and from us at no charge.

  • Uber pick-ups from Ohoka. If you'd rather drop your car and get on with your day, Ubers run from Ohoka, so you're not stuck waiting around.

  • Still fully mobile, Canterbury-wide. For almost all jobs, we can still come to you anywhere in Canterbury. If that's easier, just let us know when you book.

The move timeline, one more time

  • Up to and including Friday 7 August 2026: operating as normal from 565 Yaldhurst Road.

  • Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 August 2026: closed for the move and setup. We'll still pick up messages and bookings; we just won't be turning cars around on these two days.

  • From Wednesday 12 August 2026: open and fully operational at 4 Wilson Drive, Ohoka.

If you've got a booking that lands near those dates, no stress, we'll be in touch to sort the timing. If you're not sure, just flick us a message, and we'll confirm.

Yaldhurst has been good to us, and we're grateful for every customer who's come through over the years. It wasn't too long ago that we were in our oversized commercial premises in town - and since moving to a dual work-from-home and mobile format, we've struck a far better balance and been able to focus on our core ethos of providing the best detailing quality and customer service. Ohoka is where we're headed next, and it's the start of something we've been planning for a while. We'd love for you to come along for the ride. See you up north.
